Letter to Meg Hillier MP from residents of 13 Atkins Square

The cladding scandal has left thousands of people across the country with homes that they can’t sell; many have been left with bills totalling tens of thousands of pounds, which they cannot pay, to fix problems caused by their incompetent landlords and builders. The buildings on Atkins Square were incompetently designed and built by Bellway, and were accepted by Peabody, despite containing major fire safety flaws. Peabody have dangled over the heads of residents the threat of charging them tens of thousands of pounds each to fix the fire safety issues caused by Bellway.

Meg Hillier, the MP for whose constituency includes the Pembury Estate, has raised the general issue of cladding in Parliament previously. Residents of 13 Atkins Square have been writing to her in order to ask that she raises the particular issues on the Pembury Estate, both in Parliament and with Peabody.
