On 8 October 2020 the Residents’ Association’s Executive Committee met with senior staff from Peabody, with the aim of improving relationships between residents and Peabody. This is a very long road, but we hope that Peabody may begin to be less antagonistic, and more cooperative, towards residents.
What was discussed
Peabody apologised for the delay in recognising the Residents’ Association, and confirmed that we are recognised and that our grant will be paid.
Peabody suggested that we should set up a separate sub-group for leaseholders. The Residents’ Association unanimously agreed that this was a bad idea: our interests are all the same as residents. We are stronger as a single collective. We can deal with issues for leaseholders and tenants as a single Residents’ Association.
Peabody was keen for the Residents’ Association to adopt a Code of Conduct and an agreed working relationship with Peabody. We agreed that communication with Peabody would go through our Joint Chairs.
Peabody offered to provide training for the Residents’ Association to improve members’ skills in chairing, presenting, or book-keeping. Residents may want us to take Peabody up on this.
Peabody informed the Residents’ Association of their schedule for inspection tours of the estate. Residents can join in on the tours.
