Peabody have set up a page on their website to answer questions about fire safety at Pembury Circus: https://www.peabody.org.uk/news-views/atkins-square
Peabody say that this will be the principal area for their updates and progress on the fire safety and cladding project.
Pebaody say that they have sent this link to all the residents concerned by these works, for whom they have an active email address. A letter will be posted to the rest on Monday.
Inadequacy of Peabody’s Approach
However, we are concerned that this link has not been sent to all non-resident leaseholders.
Further, Peabody are not answering the questions on their website that residents have asked them. Members have pointed out two examples:
- “Please provide a copy of the document which outlines the need for a Waking Watch in block 17...” No copy of the document was provided, and no reason why it could not be provided was given.
- “Please confirm the cost of Waking Watch per week for block 17.” This question was not answered. An hourly rate for the staff was instead provided.
Furthermore, some incorrect information has been provided. Here is an example:
- “We do not release Fire Risk Assessments as they are technical documents designed to generate actions for our management and delivery teams.” However, copies have been provided to other Peabody blocks, including 13 Atkins Square. As such, Peabody’s statement is incorrect.
We have asekd Peabody to provide correct and full answers to all the questions they have been asked.
