After weeks of pressuring Peabody, we are pleased to say that we have now agreed a formal process with them that residents can follow to exchange or get a refund on parking permits.
In February, we had been given verbal assurance on one process by the estate staff – but residents quickly found that this process was not correct. We have since been working with Peabody central office who have given us written assurance of the correct process. You can read this at the bottom of this post.
We have also lodged a formal complaint with Peabody about the way the change in parking contractors has been handled, especially the lack of communication to residents.
We have been able to achieve this because we are residents working together. The Residents’ Association is not a charity; we are all residents of the estate who volunteer their time to help improve things. This is a great example of what can happen when we all come together.
Please do share this news with your neighbours and encourage them to join the Residents’ Association for free.
Process confirmed by Peabody central office
Existing MET permits will not be accepted, any resident displaying one will receive a parking charge notice (Peabody will not cancel these).
If residents would like an exchange, the need to contact the Peabody Customer Hub with a clear picture of the permits. The Customer Hub will then email PCM with the Peabody Contract Manager copied in to request this.
Residents should not email PCM direct as Peabody need to verify these details.
If residents would like a refund, the process is pretty much the same, they will be refunded for the unused spaces only – not the total cost of the permit.
Advice from the Residents’ Association
You will need to contact the Customer Hub through Peabody’s website. You should say that you need to send an attachment and ask them to provide an email you can send the photos of your permits too.
We recommend residents ask to be copied into the email from the Peabody Customer Hub to PCM, so you know that email has been sent.
When writing to the Peabody Customer Hub you can reference this email and say that the process has been approved by the SCM and Contracts Manager.
Please support your neighbours who may not be as confident with technology to exchange or refund their permits too. Remember to do this in a COVID secure way.
