At Pembury Circus residents pay through their rent and service charges for a concierge. The concierge works hard to keep our community a safe and welcoming environment.
Until the pandemic, our concierge service accepted parcels for residents when they are out. This was necessary because of thefts of parcels that otherwise happen. The system was highly regimented, with the concierge having a system for recording parcels arriving and being collected. However, during the pandemic Peabody withdrew the service, along with most other services. This led to an increase in parcel thefts.
Since the removal of lockdown restrictions, Peabody have refused to reopen the concierge for parcels. They have falsely claimed that the job of the concierge is not to accept parcels. We understand that this had come as a surprise to the concierge: it was being done before because it was their job.
In any event, the letter below shows that it has been the concierge’s job since Pembury Circus was built. It is unsurprising that Peabody are once again deceiving residents and refusing to provide the service that residents pay for, but it is no less unacceptable.
The Residents’ Association is calling on Peabody to reinstate parcel collection by the concierge to prevent the continuing spate of parcel thefts on Pembury Circus, and to ensure that residents receive the service that we all pay for.
