Parking on Hindrey Road

Residents have been reporting serious problems with parking on Hindrey Road. These problems are being caused by Axis staff parking in residents’ spaces. A garage has also been converted into a workspace. This is causing further problems for residents.

The Residents’ Association is coordinating complaints by residents about these issues.

The issues that residents are having

Recently, we have noticed several issues that need our collective attention:

  • Parking Issues:  Axis staff have been parking in residents’ designated spaces, which is causing significant inconvenience.
  • Blocked Access: The single access road is frequently blocked by Axis vehicles. This poses a serious risk if emergency vehicles need to enter Hindrey Road.
  • Noise and Pollution: There is increased noise from car horns when the road is blocked, and vans are left running during loading. This is disrupting our residential street. Some residents have reported exacerbation of existing breathing problems due to this.
  • Blocked Parking Spaces: Residents’ vehicles are often blocked in parking spaces by Axis staff loading their vans.
  • Unannounced Change of Use: There was no communication regarding the change of use from a garage to a workspace. This is a residential street, and we should have been consulted.
  • Delivery Issues: Axis workers are using residents’ addresses for deliveries of goods, including accessories like shower bases, and even personal deliveries such as lunch.

Making complaints to resolve these issues together

Collective action can help us to resolve these issues. We suggest taking the following action.

Contact Peabody

Firstly, we encourage everyone to contact Peabody to formally lodge complaints regarding the inconvenience and potential hazards we are facing. It is important for us to stand together and ensure our voices are heard.

Template complaint letter

Dear Peabody Complaints Team,

I am writing to you as a resident of Hindrey Road on the Pembury Estate to complain about some ongoing issues on Hindrey Road that many of us have been facing due to the activities of Axis staff.

Parking Issues:  Axis staff have been parking in residents’ designated parking spaces, which is causing significant inconvenience.

How I would like this resolved: I would like Axis staff members to be told that they must not park on Pembury Estate land and for disciplinary action to be taken against those employees who ignore this instruction

Blocked Access: The single lane road is frequently blocked by Axis vehicles, posing a serious risk if emergency vehicles need to enter Hindrey Road.

Noise and Pollution: There is increased noise from car horns when the road is blocked. Vans are also left running during loading. These issues are disrupting our residential street. Further, some residents have reported exacerbation of existing breathing problems due to these issues.

Blocked Parking Spaces: Residents’ vehicles are often blocked in parking spaces by Axis staff loading their vans.

How I would like this resolved: I would like alternative methods of loading and unloading to be developed and for those plans to be shared with me, and I would like all Axis staff to be instructed never to leave their engines running while stationary.

Unannounced Change of Use: There was no communication regarding the change of use from a garage to a workspace. This is a residential street, and we should have been consulted in advance about how the space is to be used.

How I would like this resolved: I would like to know how it came about that Axis were hiring this space, and to know how much money Peabody are charging for use of this space and how the residents are benefitting from this income. I would like Peabody to consult all residents collectively about how garage spaces are to be used.

Delivery Issues: Axis workers are using residents’ addresses for deliveries of goods, including accessories like shower bases, and even personal deliveries such as lunch.

How I would like this resolved: I would like all Axis workers to be informed that using residents’ addresses for delivery is forbidden.

I would like this to be treated as an official complaint. Do not treat this as a request for service recovery or for local resolution.

Yours faithfully,
